Balances for People
|
Balances for people are used to measure and determine people’s body weight. The measurement range of the balances for people is from 0 kg up to 150 kg, and sometimes up to 200 kg. Balances for obese people have measurement ranges up to 300 kg. These balances for people should be in every house. The regular use of balances
for people allows to check the weight in case of obesity or extreme thinness. Some years ago balances for people were spring balances. These balances determined and showed the body weight by means of a spring mechanism so they were quite imprecise. Nowadays most of the balances for people are digital showing the weight on the display. Digital balances for people are more accurate in determining body weight and the digital display enables easier reading than mechanical balances. Most of the digital balances for people not only measure body weight but also they have some additional functions. The most useful function of balances for people is the determination of body fat. These balances for people, which can determine body fat, measure body fat by means of the body electrical resistance. The results of these measurements are not very accurate due to different factors such as a full bladder or dehydration after sport which can considerably affect these values. In order to get more or less accurate result it is important to weigh people at the same time and under the same conditions. The best conditions to weigh people are generally in the morning after urination or before having a shower (dry skin). Balances for people determine body fat and the amount of water in human's body using the same principle of electrical resistance. Here, we can also find quite imprecise values. Finally, there are balances for people which measure
Bodymass-Index (BMI) after introducing the weight and height. The verification of balances for people (only for those that can be verified) can be done when balances are ordered or as a reverification. Once an official verification has been done, the balances for people cannot be recalibrated using an external calibration weight. The first verification is valid for two years, but every other verification is valid for one year and must be done annually. We recommend ISO calibration certificate for those companies that wish to include balances for people in its internal set of control tools or for an annual recalibration. In order to meet DIN ISO 9000 (quality assurance) a laboratory calibration (including calibration documentation) or verification can be performed .
