Material testingMaterial testing covers different testing procedures, due to which the behavior and the material data cluster of standardized material samples (material analytics) or completed construction parts (construction parts inspection) can be determined under mechanic, thermal or chemical stress. Therefore a material is to be tested on its purity, accuracy and load capacity. In accordance with that, established testing procedures are to divide into two categories: destructive and non-destructive material testing. Tests that are directed towards estimating the life-time of products and materials are also counted to fields of material testing. The material testing gauges are delivered after being tested and can be even equipped with an ISO calibration certificate, if optionally demanded, either for the initial order or as rotational re-calibration (e.g. annually). The following table shows the different product groups in fields of material testing. Using video with a Material tester |

That video about material testing shows evidently how a force gauge is applied with a test stand in a laboratory. Therefore a wire is tested and inspected on its material durability. The wire is pulled as long as the upper tensile yield point is not reached and the wire does not rupture. That is especially for the metal-working industry an important quality criterion. |

DKD: The "Deutscher Kalibrierdienst" is a
union of metrological laboratories that own an accreditation for
particular measurement categories. Those exhibit a metrological
competence. A DKD- accredited laboratory has the right to provide
internationally recognized calibration certificate for metrology/
gauges. The DKD certificates are valid in many countries around the
world, e.g. within the whole European Union. DKD certificate: Calibration certificate, which is exactly accurate to the regulations of DKD in its structure and content. It contains the description of the metrological technique and the test object combined with measuring results and the deviation. Measurement devices with DKD certificates are considered calibrated working standard. Calibration: Official diagnosis about whether the metrology is in accordance to error margins for calibration. More information: Metrology of the PTB Accuracy: The manifestation of metrology is very diverse. Independent from one another a characterization according to construction and function can be defined. Furthermore measuring techniques are divided according to their characteristics like accuracy and limit load. Gift ideas: Our metrological equipment is ideal as a present for ambitioned technicians. A selection of most demanded devices are to find here: Gifts and gift ideas / Christmas gifts. Calibration of device in fields of metrology: Testing accuracy of the indicators of measuring gauges, inspection devices, test meters or measuring arrangements without intervening the metrological system. Or: Determining the systematic deviation of the display from the true value of indicator. Visit one of our calibration partners for metrology. Calibration certificate: Documents the metrological characteristics of the respective metrology as well as traceability to national standards. Calibration interval: In order to perform lasting correct material tests the used metrology has to be monitored in frequent intervals and to be calibrated. That time period correlates with the calibration interval. There is no general rule about when to re-calibrate devices. Important points for determining the interval are:
That means that all in all, the interval between
two calibrations Measuring accuracy: Deviation of display of measuring technique from true value. Factory-provided calibration certificate: Those certificates are made with perpendiculars that underlie the monitoring of inspection equipment; the tractability of the used perpendicular is secured by regular monitoring of the inspection equipment. The measuring technique is then to be adjusted due to intra-company inspection and calibration installations. Guidelines: Please review the external link on regulations regarding metrology Further links regarding metrology: The following video demonstrates how development, innovation and technical support is provided for our customers. PCE instruments has tested its metrological equipment at the south pole. The task was to make sure our metrological equipment withstands extreme temperatures. Therefore minor modifications were made regarding the packing in order to achieve a better insulation and by that to achieve a micro climate inside the measuring equipment. Thanks to devices like ozone analyzers, water analyzing devices, UV meters or wind-meters, astronomical, geographical, ornithological and atmospheric experiments were performed with large success. The Antarctic is a natural laboratory that keeps particular characteristics about the correlation between earth and solar system intact. This it is not worth mentioning that the Antarctic ice plays a major role regarding the estimation of different climatic changes (ice emerging) on the earth ground in the course of time (thanks to the micro air bubbles, that are captured in the different atmospheric layers). Defining the climate change is the mentioned greenhouse-effect (due to co2 emission) as well as a lack of ozone in higher atmospheric layers, which allows the transgression of UV radiation that is dangerous to life. That situation is provoked by a high and intensive industrialization during the past decades. Despite of that there were earlier changes and there will be always climate changes.
