Sterile technology is indispensable in medical fields. Sterilisation and disinfection are procedures in which devices and materials are freed of microorganisms. Mass-epidemics and contagion can thereby be prevented. Another application area is not in medicine but in food processing. Tinned food and packaging – both of which come into direct contact with food – are sprayed with antiseptics to kill such bacteria that may possibly have developed during production. Various forms of sterile technology:

Sterilisation through heating: Here, dying-kinetics of microorganisms is made use of. Through the influence of temperature over a certain period of time, the decay of microorganisms can be guaranteed (similar to radioactive decay).
