There are five different series of kitchen balances available. Kitchen balances can be powered by batteries or by connecting to the mains, they have a weight range up to 150kg, and a resolution between 0.01 and 50g. Some models of kitchen balances have an optional software kit available which allows for data transfers to computers. Apart from being used in the kitchen, these kitchen balances can be used in sport, for example, the PCE-TS 150 series are capable of weighing athletes competing in competitions.
