Surface Scales
Mechanical and digital surface scales used to obtain the weight of a sheet of paper in g/m² are available on this site. There are two models of surface scales:
- Mechanical surface scales with the weighing ranges up to 900 g/m².
- Digital surface scales with the weight indicator in /m² or in g
Mechanical surface scales are used to quickly determine the weight of papers, cartons or boxes. Digital surface scales can be used for all kind of laboratory tasks, for instance, to determine the weight of papers, floor tiles or fabrics in grams per square meter. Surface scales are delivered with two patterns (to cut the samples in thin papers). Surface scales are able to determine the weight of diverse materials such as fabric, gum, leather, felt, tiles, etc. Both PCE-DMS 200 and PCE-LSZ 200C series surface scales show the weight in grams in relation to a square meter of the material. In order to place the exact amount of 100 cm² on our surface scales we recommend the use of sample cutters to get reproducible results. Sample cutters help you to save time as well as they guarantee the equal size of samples (100 cm²).

Surface scales are commonly used in the production for the quick control of grammage of both paper and fabric machines. They are used for further accurate tests and also as the reference meters for online systems. Printers and manufacturers use surface scales to check the export of goods. If you wish to obtain accurate results we recommend you to use the cutter for round samples with our surface scales. Sample cutters help you to save time as well as they guarantee the equal size of samples (100 cm²) that will be placed on the surface scales.
