insulation meter up to 8 GΩ in a compact enclosure
|
The insulation meter detects the resistance of insulation up to 8 GΩ (in auxiliary voltage of 250, 500 and 1000 V). The insulation meter also allows measurement of alternate and continuous voltage up to maximum 950 VDC and 700 VAC, and resistance up to maximum 2 kΩ. It has a transit tester with an integrated acoustic signal. The readings can be stored by pressing a button. The device meets the standards: DIN 57 411 part 1/VDE 0411 part 1, countermeasure for electronic devices (IEC1010-1) and DIN VDE 0413 (insulation meters). The insulation meter comes calibrated from the manufacturer, although there is an optional ISO calibration certificate which can be ordered with the device or when an annual recalibration is required. Definition of the resistance of insulation: The resistance of insulation is the resistance in ohms in lines, cables and electrical installations. It holds significant importance in protecting people against electrical discharges and in preventing damage to materials by passing currents. With the measurement of resistance of insulation it tests and evaluates the condition of the insulation (conductors and enclosures). This link shows an overview of all the available insulation meters which will suit your needs.

The measurement of insulation should be performed on any new installation, overhaul, changes or repairs. As can be seen on the image to the right, its essential to test insulation when rewinding and repairing electro-motors. It is necessary to test motors after they have been operating for a period of time, so the measurement of insulation acts as an evaluation of the operating life of the motor, especially when there are adverse climactic conditions. A typical test voltage reading for low voltage motors and transformers is 1000 V.
