Thermo Hygrometers
|
Thermo hygrometers are useful for measurements of humidity. Humidity is a representation of the concentration of water vapour in the air where the value is shown as a percent. Thermo hygrometers have sensors which measure humidity of the air and temperature of the air. Both values will be shown as a digital representation and converted into the desired unit. The result will then be shown via display or on a chart. On our site, you will find thermo hygrometers that can measure air humidity, or combined devices that can also measure temperature. These thermo hygrometers measure different ranges of humidity and temperature depending on the model. Thermo hygrometers are versatile in that they can take measurements, store them to memory and transfer data to a computer for further detailed analysis. Many of our gadgets come with software to transfer that data to your computer. This way it is easy for you to make precise analysis of the test results you have received from the device. Most of our instruments are contactless working which enables non-destructive measurements. Furthermore the user is able to store that data on the computer to be able to make long-term measurements. Without this option you would not be able to analyze your data over such a long period of time. Thermo hygrometers are very useful in evaluating damage in a warehouse. Many warehouses need to be at an exact temperature, with a specific level of humidity. A difference in temperature and / or humidity would mean that the stored products get damaged or even destroyed. Such warehouses are for example those ones that offer flowers and food. Foul food would mean additional payment for a reseller of groceries and dried flower mean that the seller of those ones will be unable to sell them. With the high accuracy of our products such businessmen will easily be able to determine the surroundings of such goods and control parameters like temperature and humidity in a better way. Using our Thermo-Hygrometer devices you can measure relative humidity, determine the source of damn and moisture problems and indicate whether moisture reduction and control strategies are effective. Hygrometers are used to measure moisture vapour within the air, also known as the humidity level, this is measured on a scale of 0 to 100% relative humidity with 100% being saturated air. At PCE we have both digital and analogue Thermo-Hygrometers that can show minimum, maximum and current values of humidity. Dew Point is another value some of our devices show, it is a measure of the point when the water vapor in the air condenses so much that it is condensed into liquid water this is the saturation point for the air at that specific temperature. Therefore, our instruments can also be applied in private households. In househoulds, the temperature and humidity or moisture content is also important. Pleasant air temperature and air humidity is only one example. The optimal environmental conditions for human-beings are around 20 °C and 50-65 % air humidity. In addition to that, mould growth starts at 70% air humidity. It is very difficult to control the environmental conditions in a living or bathroom as well as in a cellar. With the help of our thermo-hygrometer devices, these conditions can easily be displayed and moreover controlled. If the air humidity is too high, you can for example open a window. If it is too low, an air humidifier can be used. Our Thermo-Hygrometers can be used to measure moisture content in various materials including wood, concrete, plaster and bricks. We can also offer calibration certificates for a range of our instruments and gauges if you wish and some can be legally validated. Thermo-Hygrometers are ideal for using to monitor the environment within clean rooms, labs, storage rooms and computer rooms. All thermo-hygrometers come calibrated, but as their sensor's accuracy deteriorates with use, they should be recalibrated on a regular basis. A calibration can be done by the user of the device by using optional calibration standards or the device can be sent to us and we will perform a recalibration that will meet ISO standards. (Calibration / recalibration of thermo hygrometers).

Benefits of Using a Thermo-Hygrometer Many people use dehumidifiers within the home due to visible damp and moisture problems be that mould growth, damp on the walls and floors. However, typically this is done without actually knowing the relative humidity in the area in question. Purchasing a Thermo-Hygrometer will provide you with an accurate temperature and relative humidity reading, therefore enabling you to correctly control you dehumidifier for maximum efficiency. Like it is has already been stated before many huge warehouses use such Thermo-Hygrometer to protect their goods from damages. But there are also instruments that measure the current CO2-concentration in closed rooms. Many people use such instruments in their private home, at school or in the office. At all those places you need to have a good climate to be able to be completely concentrated. Many of those devices that measure the CO2-concentration and in the moment when it gets too high there is automatically an optical and acoustic signal that the room needs to be aired. This prevents mould on the walls and on the roof of a flat or house. When there is mould on the wall it is not only an ugly piece of place to live - besides that it can also be harmful for your health. The spores that are inside the room can bring lung diseases to everyone who lives inside that room. Especially for babies this is a very dangerous situation since their immune system is not yet strong enough to deal with those circumstances. They often pick up chronically diseases from which they suffer their whole life.
Definition of Terms: Relative Humidity (RH) Relative Humidity is defined by the amount of water vapour that is present within the air in comparison to the amount that the air can hold at any given temperature. The higher that the temperature is the more water vapour can be held by any given volume of air. Therefore the % RH is the ratio of water vapour present within the air which is relative to the amount required for it to reach saturation and condensation to form at that temperature. RH readings can be created by all Thermo-Hygrometers sold by PCE.
Dew Point Calculation The Dew Point is the temperature at which the Relative Humidity of the air reaches such a level so that the air becomes saturated and dew is created. The most dangerous situation is that mould growth can happen when the dew point is exceeded.
Wet Bulb Calculation The wet bulb measurement is the calculation of how much water vapour is present in the atmosphere, whereas dew point is the point at which dew is formed wet bulb is the determination of the total concentration of vapour present. N.B. Some models of thermo hygrometers have an unlimited measurement range. The physical area is between 40 and 65% r.h. Given that hot air possesses the ability to absorb more water vapour than cold air, people feel that in winter, air is too dry and in summer it is too humid. If air heats up it increases the amount of water vapour to that of saturation. The consequence is that the % of relative humidity decreases while the real quantity of water remains constant. Something similar occurs when air is cooled, decreasing the quantity of water vapour. This increases the percentage value of relative humidity. Condensation forms when there is an excess of water in saturated conditions. Some of our thermo hygrometers offer the ability to not only measure relative humidity and temperature, but can also calculate dew point and dew point temperature. Dew point temperature is defined as the temperature at which the actual vapour content of air is the maximum (100% relative humidity). Dew point temperature is independent of the actual temperature. One possibility of dew point temperature is freezing metal until its surface forms condensation. The temperature of the metal will then be the dew point temperature. As we have mentioned, many of our thermo hygrometers
show dew point on their display. We do even offer contactless thermometers which are able to diplay these mentioned parameters (temperature, humidity, dewpoint...) without contact to the material which is to be measured. That makes a non-destructive measurement possible.
