Clamp Meters On our website you will find clamp meters that are ideal for measuring
AC or DC voltage.
Clamp meters are irreplaceable for inspection work and maintenance. We offer the following:
voltage
detectors, voltage leak detectors, voltage power detectors, metric detectors, current detectors and more. These high quality clamp meters include the capacity to measure many other parameters, such as capacity, resistance, power (both by way of clamps or by means of a hand held digital device with external clamps with a range of one or three stages). The high variety of classy products (and especially clamp meters) within our product range is the reason why many professionals like tool makers, electricians and other craftsmen trust in our instruments.
Clamp meters serve as a form of personal protection for builders on the building site, which means that they can be sure that there are no electric leads. They would put the builder in highest danger. Furthermore our clamp meters are also made for do-it-yourself enthusiasts who can't wait for an electrician to come and get the next job done. These clamp meters are like the majority of our measurement instruments in that they meet and excel ISO standards. This calibration is done in a laboratory and comes with an accompanying certificate. All of our
clamp meters can perform the demanding tasks in each industrial sector regardless of the technical problem you encounter. If you can't find the current clamp meters you are looking for, please contact us and we will help you find the best solution to suit your needs by calling our offices on: UK customers +44(0) 23 809 870 30 / US customers (561) 320-9162 and our technical staff will advise you regarding our measuring instruments. Our engineers and technicians will be happy to help you with the latest clamp meters, and of course, with the other products in the field of regulation and control, and scales and balances.

General information about clamp meters: Clamp meters are measuring devices to determine currents indirectly. Whereas the electric circuit must be broken with direct measurement to place amperemeters in series, disrupting the circuit, this process isn't necessary if you measure indirectly using clamp meters. This is because clamp meters measure the magnetic effect of the electricity field around the wire or conductor. As you open the current sensor jaws, it's possible to enclose the electrical cable without having to interrupt the circuit. This permits the measurement of installations that you are not able to disconnect. Another advantage is the galvanized insulation, allowing for the product to have a longer life. The signal is, in comparison to the measured value, completely independent from the power. All our
clamp meters can also come with an ISO 9000 laboratory calibration certificate, this is especially interesting for companies that wish to incorporate these clamp meters into their quality control system or who wish to have an annual recalibration. The ISO certificate includes calibration in a laboratory and a test certificate with all the measurement values. In this way, you can always be sure about the quality and reliability of our clamp meters.
Measurement of electric values is a traditional possibility to get detailed information about resistance, voltage,
current and further values. Mostly it is not feasible to interrupt a current circuit to get information about the current. At this point our
clamp meters will be applied. Clamp meters offer the opportunity to measure current directly. Current has to be measured, traditionally, in series. The current circuit has to be interrupted for that. The fact is that electric cables are building a
magnetic
field. Clamp meters will benefit from that. They have got an iron core of layered electric sheets that is parceled by a secondary coil. The core is isolated and divisible. Therefore clamp meters can be wrapped around the conductor. An induction voltage will appear in case of the magnetic field of the conductor.
Clamp meters will convert this induction voltage and afterwards display the values. Therefore the possibility to measure current fast, easily and of course safely exists. This method does just work with alternating current. To measure direct current another circuit is necessary. These Clamp meters do just have an iron core which is, on the inside of the device, not connected. An air box exists where a hall sensor is placed. This sensor measures current on the conductor through the iron core. After an enforced signal this will be shown!
A few
clamp meters offer both functions (AC and DC) other clamp meters just a modi. Mostly, clamp meters do have multimeter functions like determination of power and resistance. For this, sockets for the connection of test prods are available. To display the effective power the product of voltage*current will be used. Resistance will be shown by this formula: R=U/I
Conventionally multimeters have measuring ranges up to 10A,
clamp meters are able to measure up to 10kA in case of their indirect measuring method. Due to this, clamp meters became a group of measuring instruments with a wide range of application.
Special built models of
clamp meters are able to measure three-conductor cables. Clamp meters are not suitable to measure low voltages. The reason for this the low current on the conductor that indicates a magnetization on the iron core which is too low to show accurate results.
Virtually applications with
clamp meters are feasible for example to inspire and maintain electric equipment.
