The cable length meter Kabelmeter 3000 presents itself as a multifunctional device. With proper application the cable length meter Kabelmeter 3000 allows measuring already laid cables as well as cables that are about to be laid. Therefore the cable length meter measures the cable length as well as resistance and caliber of the cable. The temperature might be an indirect factor effecting the measuring process, since the temperature has an impact on the cable's resistance and therefore its measured length and caliber. This leads to a necessity of performing a temperature compensation first, in order to collect correct data. The cable length meter Kabelmeter 3000 offers three methods to perform that temperature compensation. The user has the option to perform an internal, an external, and a manual temperature compensation, in order to collect exact data. As soon as the preparations are completed, and a measurement with the cable length meter is about to be started, cables with a maximum length of 20 km can be analyzed. In addition the cable length meter is able to measure resistances between 0.5 and 2000 Ω and calibers between 0.5 and 500 mm². Thus a variety of cables with lots of different characteristics can be analyzed. Apart from the options mentioned above the cable length meter features a RS232 interface allowing to transfer the collected data to a computer afterwards, in order to collect and evaluate them by means of specific softwares. That software can be downloaded from the internet (free). A subsequent evaluation can be therefore performed easily, but is not mandatory since the cable length meter Kabelmeter 3000 is also equipped with an internal data storage that enables the operator to store a maximum of up to 500 performed measurements on the device. To maintain its accuracy, the cable length meter needs to be recalibrated regularly. According to custom there is no predetermined recalibration interval. But it is recommended for this advice to recalibrate the cable length meter annually by a professional, in order to maintain the standards for this device and to ensure reliable measuring results.
