pH meters At PCE Instruments you will find pH meters for use in laboratories, aquariums, or in the industrial sector to measure pH value.
The pH value is a very important parameter when it comes to research in the
field of the production of medicines for example. That is why we offer you pH
meters which are very accurate in order to guarantee security. Our
different pH meters provide a complete range of devices. These handheld pH meters bring together almost all the characteristics available in the "best" handheld devices. These pH meters represent the best solution for quick and portable results for measuring pH values. One of these pH meters , the Combo, also measures conductibility and temperature.
For very precise work the pH meters should be calibrated before each measurement. For normal use calibration of ph meters should be performed at the beginning of each day. The reason for this is that the glass electrode of ph meters does not give a reproducible result over longer periods of time. Calibration should be performed with at least two standard buffer solutions that span the range of pH values to be measured. For general purposes buffers at pH 4 and pH
7 are acceptable. The pH meters has one control to set the ph meters reading equal to the value of the first standard buffer and a second control which is used to adjust the ph meters reading to the value of the second buffer. A third control allows the temperature to be set.
Some of our pH meters come with internal storages or interfaces as the
RS-232-interface which makes it possible to collect data over longer periods.
With the help of data interfaces, the measuring results can easily be
transferred to a computer, where further analysis can take place. Our pH meters can be calibrated, come with pH electrodes and with ISO certification. If you can't find the pH meters you are looking for, please contact us and we will help you find the best solution to suit your needs by calling our offices on: UK customers +44(0) 23 809 870 30 / US customers (561) 320-9162 and our technical staff will advise you regarding our products. Our engineers and technicians will be happy to help you with the
pH meters, and of course, with the other products in the field of regulation and control, and scales and balances.

Please note the following recommendations for using pH meters: You must recalibrate after continued use or after a long period of downtime. The natural deviation of electrodes PH should be corrected. Most pH meters have an internal calibration function, so it is not necessary to perform this calibration by screws. In any case, you will require some of calibration options we offer (most in bags as calibration kit) and are adapted the corresponding meter.
It is recommended that you calibrate your your pH-meter on a daily base if you
also work with it every day. This is especially needed in all different kinds of
industries that use a pH meter for example in a powder coating or zinc plating
company.
Below you will find a selection of the different uses that you can request for pH meters:

pH meters designed for reliable measurements in laboratories |
The pH
value influences a broad variety of different things as for example the plant
growth. The pH value of the ground determines the availability of nutrient
salts. Another possible application is to be found in swimming pools. Since the
pH value in swimming pools is standardized, it is important to measure this
value on a regular basis. In case that the pH value is too low, it might occur
that the water gets corrosive. If the pH value is too high, the water has a
disposition to calcification, which has the effect that the disinfecting power
of chlorine decreases
Overview about ph-testers: pH meters are measuring instruments which indicate the pH value of an aqueous solution. The value is obtained electrochemically and not on the basis of the acid indicators (tapes). The most widely used operating principle uses the potential of a glass electrode. A reaction in the glass membrane generates an electrochemical potential that is in direct dependence with concentration H ions. The difference of potential to reference electrodes creates a voltage shows linearly pH value. In most cases you can use a silver chloride cell as reference electrode, which is lined with a glass electrode, forming a measurement circuit. The reference electrode is connected to the solution through a diaphragm, which is usually composed by a glass, ceramic or platinum sponge. Most of the electrodes of pH meters must be kept, at least, a glass with tap water, but it is better in a saline solution.
It is recommended that these devices are every day that you want to work with
them. This is usually done with a standard liquid which has a certain ph-value
which is known by the user in order to calibrate the device properly. Usually
there are at least two pre-defined ph-liquids but three of them are even better.
They have the ph-value of 4, 7 and 10. These standard liquids can be bought at
our online-shop. They are ready to use and are usually bought at one of the
producers, so that you don't have to mix them yourself. If your device shows a
different value from what the standard liquid indicates the ph-meter has to be
adjusted slightly.
