Flow Meter (Cross Meter) X8
/ X16 Flow meter models X8 and X16 to determine the air flow speed and the volumetric flow / minimum loading loss
The flow meter X8 and X16 models are designed as basic pressure sensors for rectangular air ducts. These flow meters are simple and inexpensive and it is an accurate alternative to other pressure measurement systems. This type of flow meter is delivered as a construction set and is suitable for all pipes with a maximum diagonal of 1400 mm (model X16) or 700 mm (model X8). The cross flow is made of differential pressure sensors to determine the velocity of air flow and volumetric flow. Load losses are minimal. The total pressure is determined and calculated by periodically spaced holes which are in a diagonal line. The ratio of the dynamic pressure is calculated by subtracting the substatic pressure. This is determined by the second tube and it is always less than the static pressure in the system. Due to the minimal loss of load, the measurement signal doubles. Delivery content:
The set consists of a grid in a cross with all locking components. The measurement transducer is NOT included in the delivery.
Signal analysis: The flow meters are simple pressure sensors. To assess the signal a proper meter is needed. The choice of meter depends on the type of measurement, as shown in the picture below.
The pressure signal is sent to the meter to determine the pressure, the air flow velocity or flow. By using a pressure gauge with an analogue output (with or without display) the flow meter becomes a complete and economical package for measurement and flow regulation.
Assembly
Can be done in the workshop, but also can be easily mounted on site. All mounting hardware is included in the shipping.
The two stainless steel tubes that capture the pressure are cut to exact size, the canal wall is drilled as in the pattern. The cross grid is inserted and fixed and finally connected with the pressure gauge (not included in shipment).
Usage
The flow meter delivers reproducable measurements in various fields such as ventilation, air conditioning, etc. With their universal size, cross grids are not only ideal for expanding existing facilities but can upgrade them significantly. The use of the flow meter is especially useful for places where more expensive methods of measurement, such as Wilson grids, are not suitable or where accuracy is not the primary goal.
Additional component: As an accessory, we offer a suitable gauge with electronic linearisation which means that the analogue output signal is directly proportional to the speed of airflow, and therefore to the flow of the measurement circuit. This measurement system is then ready to be connected to an analogue output from 0 to 10 V. Of course, we can also offer the manometer with output 0/4 ... 20 mA, for this please contact us directly.
