The Bostwick Consistometers enables a simple and quick measurement process in order to determine the flow characteristics of liquid-viscous substances. By means of the Bostwick Consistometer the flow path for a certain time of a spreading liquid or of a pasty material is determined in a comparative process. This measurement applied by the Bostwick Consistometer ZXCON is shortly known as Bostwick test. The Bostwick Consistometer is composed of a tray that is parted into two unequal chambers. The smaller chamber of the Bostwick Consistometer is designed to carry the sample substance while the bigger chamber is equipped with an engraved route scaling. After filling in the sample and opening the gate, the distance is determined by means of the consistometer, which the substance covers in a defined time limit at the scaled tray ground. In order to reach high accuracy in terms of repeatability and comparable values, an exact horizontal bedding of the Bostwick consistometer ZXCON is absolutely necessary. Thus integrated spirit level as well as leveling feet are included into a standard equipment of the Bostwick consistometer ZXCON. - Arrange device and level it
- Shut spring-loaded gate by means of trip unit.
- Fill in 75 ml sample material (picture left above)
- Open gate (Picture right above)
- Read-out value after 30 seconds. Generate average value between flow length on border and in the middle (left picture).
