Gamma Dosimeter Graetz ED150
Gamma Dosimeter ED150 calibratable to measure gamma- and x-radiation, including an alarm signal
|
The gamma dosimeter graetz ED150 is designed to measure gamma- and x-radiation in accordance with DIN 6818. As a detector, the gamma dosimeter ED150 features an energy-compensated Geiger-Müller-counting tube. The alarm-thresholds – which are predetermined by the manufacturer – are comply with the common guidelines in radiation protection and ensure that the bearer of the gamma dosimeter ED150 is always able to detect a possible endangerment by exposure to nuclear radiation. The gamma dosimeter ED150 captures the nuclear radiation in a dihedral angle of 180° in front of the bearer’s body. Therefore, an accurate and certain measurement is guaranteed. In addition to the optical and digital display on the gamma dosimeter, an acoustic single-pulse-detection can be switched on. Via two buttons, the individual measuring parameters or menu items can be selected and traced on the display of the gamma dosimeter ED150. Naturally, the stored measuring data and selected parameters of the gamma dosimeter ED150 are preserved even after a battery-change. The gamma dosimeter graetz ED150 can be used regardless of atmospheric conditions. Even a temporary submergence of less than 0.5 m depth does no harm to the gamma dosimeter ED150. What is radiation?
At the end of the 19th century, Antoine-Henri Becquerel discovered that mixtures containing uranium spontaneously produce, i.e. without foreign influence, invisible radiation. The decay of radium, for example, causes alpha emission. The unstable nucleus of this radioactive radium isotope (88 protons and 139 neutrons) is constantly trying to become a more stable isotope. Thus, the radium nucleus emits so-called alpha particles, equal to a helium-nucleus, which consist of two protons and two neutrons. It is called alpha radiation. A detailed explication of radiation is available via the link above (or click image).
