Turbidimeter
PCE-TUM 20
Portable turbidimeter according to ISP 7027 /
Two automatic switching measuring ranges between 0 ... 50 NTU and 50 ... 1000
NTU
|
The
turbidimeter is a handy device equipped with a large display, fulfilling all
standards for a tubidity analysis on-site. The measuring range of 0 ... 1000 NTU
is parted into two automatically switching measuring ranges for purposes of
increasing the accuracy of the turbidimeter. With a well-arranged keyboard the
turbidimeter is easy to operate. LED's are used as a light source, which work
with a wave length of 830 nm in infrared ranges of light, und by that are
invisible to the human eye. Since the measurement is not performed in a visible
range, possible pigmentation of the sample plays a minor role during
measurement. Due to a formation of the photodiodes in a 180 ° and 90 ° angle,
transmitted light measurement is performed for higher ranges whereas diffused
light measurement is used for lower ranges. With the reference standards of 0
NTU and 100 NTU included in delivery, the turbidimeter can be calibrated or
adjusted at any time. The turbidimeter PCE-TUM 20 fulfills according to EN 27027
/ ISO 7027 all acquired standards. If there are any questions about this
turbidimeter PCE-TUM 20, please have a look at the
technical specification below or call: UK customers +44(0) 23 809 870 30 / US customers +1-410-387-7703. Our technicians and engineers will gladly advise you in all photometers
and all products in the field of measuring
instruments, regulation
and control and scales.

Units
|
The
turbidimeter PCE-TUM 20 displays the measurement results in NTU units (Nephelometric
Turbidity Unit). This unit is preserved in the ISO standards. NTU is identical
with FTU (Formazine Turbidity Unit). Furthermore there are two more units in
practice for turbidity: JTU and SiO2. JTU (Jackson Turbidity Unit) is equal to
19 NTU, while the Silicia Unit equals 7.5 NTU.

Measuring
Principle
|
Inside
the turbidimeter there is a infrared LED installed with 850 nm as a light
source. A photodiode positioned in a 90 ° angle to the measuring ray absorbs
the light reflected by the particles in the dissolution (diffused light or
nephelometric measuring methods for lower measuring range). For higher measuring
ranges an additional photodiode is positioned at the opposite side (measurement
is performed via transmitted light method). By that the meter determines the
turbidity in NTU (FTU). By using infrared LED even measurement of colored
dissolution e.g. red wine is possible .
