Ultrasonic Wall Thickness Gauge Multigauge 5500 Ultrasonic thickness gauge for hands-free use / easy calibration / IPR and AMVs /
Echo strength indicator / 3 years warranty
The ultrasonic wall thickness gauge Multigauge 5500 is an instrument for the measurement of wall thickness. It was specifically designed for hands-free use and is therefore used in many different areas. To name a few examples, the ultrasonic wall thickness gauge is used on ladders or scaffolding where wall thickness must be checked. With the help of the ultrasonic wall thickness gauge, it is possible to cling on shaky platforms without having to hold the device at the same
time. For this, the ultrasonic wall thickness gauge is simply fastened by a belt clip on his pants. The rubber parts are very soft, so the ultrasonic wall thickness gauge lies very comfortable in the hand and is maximum protected against bumps and scratches. All sensors of the ultrasonic wall thickness gauge support IPR (Intelligent Probe Recognition) by which the device performance is immensely improved. The AMVs (Automatic Measurement Verification System) guaranteed, that only relevant results are displayed, even on the rustiest materials. Furthermore the ultrasonic wall thickness gauge makes use of the multiple echo technology, this technology ignores layers such as paints.
This allows the measurement of the material thickness without the need to remove these layers before. Thus it is an ultrasonic wall thickness gauge for non-destructive thickness measurement. In addition to these technologies, the device can be easily calibrated via the menu and can be used for 20 hours continuously and has a warranty of 3 years.

More
information on the threefold echo-technology
Depending on the material to be measured, each multiple echo thickness gauge should be calibrated at different sound velocities. Paints have different sound speeds as metals, it is necessary to ensure that these do not affect the measurements. The 3-echo technology guarantees that all coatings have no effect on the measurement.
This is how the measurement of the multiple echo thickness gauge works
A transmitted ultrasonic pulse is sent through paint and metal and is reflected by the rear wall. The returning echo reverberates in the metal and only a small part of the echo returns through the coating. The time between the small echoes gives us the time of the echo within the metal, this time is in direct connection to the material thickness. The multiple echo thickness gauge interprets the recurring echoes automatically and calculates the thickness of the material. A minimum of three echoes is checked each time. This is called Automatic Measurement Verification System
(AMVs).
