DLS-C / CH 30 & DLS-C / CH 15 distance sensor industrial distance sensor for fixed mounting with SPS
|
The DLS distance sensor is used to measure distances accurately in the industry sector. This distance sensor can measure for example filling of containers, the position of objects on the conveyor or the thickness of rolls and cilinders, as well as store and evaluate data on the PC. You can connect the distance sensor to a SPS for handling and reading. The potential uses of the distance sensor are manifold. The distance sensor is very easy to install with the help of the M4 and it is fed through the network (9 - 30 VDC for DLS-C and 24 ... 30 VDC for DLS-CH). The standard version of this Edistance sensor should always be used in connection with a PC. The measurement is activated from the PC or monitor. The measurement values are given in either analogue or digital. To connect the distance sensor to a PLC, it will not be necessary to use a PC. For this, it must be noted that the SPS has an RS-232 or RS-422 available to serve as a connection to the distance sensor.

The DLS distance sensor can be operated with a standard PC or connect to a PLC with RS-422 (management and reading of the distance measurement results)

Influence of the objects to measure/ other influences
|
- All opaque objects can be measured. You will not get test results with clear objectives.
- The smooth objectives with a good reflection give better and faster results than the rough measurement.. Rough surfaces have a negative influence on the measurement time (0.3 - 4 s)
- If there is a high concentration of dust between the EDM and the target, measuring eg cement silos, this will have a negative influence on the measurement.
- The moving targets can be measured

The measurement accuracy of ± 3.0 or ± 1.5 mm comes from a statistical distribution of 95%. The typical variant can be taken from the diagram shown at right.
Certain things and certain materials and their surfaces have a negative influence on the re-sult of measurement - Measurement in a high temperature (> +50 ° C)
- Measurement in a highly polished surface (eg a stainless steel cylinder with polished gloss)

Harmful effects on laser light
|
The distance sensor series DLS is in a laser class II . The gauges of laser class II have a visible laser with low yield (<1 mW) so that there is a possibility to damage a person's eyes. If you look directly over a long period of time (> 15 min) to the laser beam, it can produce eye damage. Never look at the laser with a magnifying glass. It should be noted that normally when the eyes are in a clear light ambient, they tend to close as a reflex. This reflex normally protects the eye damage from laser class 2.

Connection
|
RS-232 and RS-422 to bind to an SPS
|
With the RS-232, a DLS-C sensor can be connected directly to the PC. To connect to the DLS-C sensor, a plug id used with which the result is a close union (IP65). The connection to the PC is done with a D-Sub plug of 9-poles. A two-wire cable makes it easy to connect a power supply for the sensor.
|
This cable makes it possible to easily connect a DLS-C sensor to a RS-422 interface. With this cable there is a close connection (IP65) with the DLS-C sensor.
|
Delivery Content 1 x DLS-C30 industrial distance sensor or DLS-C15 with software, please ask for the RS-232 or RS-422
|
Optional
- Data cable RS-232 or RS-422 (the interface cable quickly defines the digital output type of the distance sensor) / RS-232 or RS-422)
- Testing target
- Glasses
- Protection IP 65 connector, enables waterproof connection to a data cable.
