Enclosed you will find a listing of the most common
viscometers:
Glass capillary viscometers: The viscosity detection with this viscometer is performed due to the test fluid flowing through a thin glass tube. A presetted fluid volume therefore flows in a predetermined time at stable pressure through a tube, which also has a determined length and a predefined calibre. Thus a reference value can be identified due to which the kinematic viscositiy can be calculated.
Rotational viscometers: The torque is a very important indicator to determine the viscosity. In the fluid an object is turned by a small engine. Simultaneously the torque is measured by the viscometer. Due to a continuous turn, the shape of the object, the rotational speed and the size of the container the viscometer can calculate the dynamic viscosity of the fluid. Typical shapes of such objects are for example a cylinder in the tube
Stabinger viscometer: The stabinger viscometer is a relatively new viscometer, which was only introduced to the market in the current millenium. It is a modification of the rotational viscometer. An inner, hollow cylinder of the stabinger viscometer is lighter than the test fluid and therefore swims
centralized and loose in the probe.
